FIRST INNINGS: NEW ZEALAND WON THE TOSS AND DECIDED TO BAT 1ST

That’s Sunday 14th July 2019, the day of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 final match between England vs New Zealand at Lords Cricket Stadium, London. A beautiful sunny day after the little shower of rain.

Like other days of Cricket World Cup finals. It was likely to have bowl first at the Lords cricket ground. Today, the toss had much importance towards the decision of the match England vs New Zealand but it was a very hard and brave decision by the managements of both the teams that which decision should they make.

Whether they should go to bowl first because of the early rain showers or to go for the bat in wet conditions. Its very tough to decide first innings of the match and expected by the experts that the team who win the toss should go ahead for the bowling first. Everyone who knows the cricket well, will remember the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999 final match between Pakistan and Australia.

Pakistan had performed tremendously well during the whole world cup matches but on the final day. when there were rain showers in the morning, the Pakistan Cricket Team management had decided to bat first. After winning the toss and all the team was bowled out for just 132 runs.

First Innings Performance by New Zealand

England vs New Zealand was another last match of the Great event in cricket So, both the teams, i.e. England and New Zealand were very hesitant for making the decision of batting first. New Zealand  win the toss and they decided to bat first against the in form England in the ICC Cricket world Cup 2019 final match.

Martin Guptill and Nicholos who open the innings for New Zealand and Martin Guptill struggled in his batting during the whole Cricket World Cup 2019. He was getting out early in the innings.

Guptill was under immense pressure for the pacy attack from England but in most of the matches of the New Zealand had lost both of its openers below 30 runs but it was a very brave and hard decision for New Zealand to toss and batting first. Likely, a very careful start from both the teams.

New Zealanders were not playing any rash shots in the opening spell of the innings. Chris Woakes bowled his opening spell on very tight lines. The Martin Guptill was finding it very difficult to steal the boundary against him and New Zealand lost their first wicket at 29 runs after 6.2 overs when martin Guptill was out.

Chris Woakes bowled a very straight bowl to him and Martin Guptill misses the ball and the ball hits the bads first so, Woakes gone for the appeal and umpire give his decision in favour of the bowler. Man Martin Guptill had the doubt on the decision of the umpire and with the conversation and counsiling with his partner he decided to take the review for his wicket.

Partnership of Kane Williamson along with Henry Nicholls 

3rd umpire checked the decision of the on field umpire and Martin Guptill was found guilty. New Zealand not only lost its review and but they also lose their review as well and New Zealand captain, the in form player Mr. Kane Williamson came to the crease and join Henry Nicholls.

there are very necessary for New Zealand to build the partnership to score the reasonable target for the England. Kane Williamson along with Henry Nicholls build a strong partnership and both the players were batting so hard to improve the Net Run rate of their innings.

A bowling change by the England captain and he brought Liam Plunkit to bowl. In no time, when Kane Williamson lost his concentration towards the game and lost his wicket to Liam Plunkit . It was Jos Butller who took a beautiful catch and the New Zealand captain was castle tactfully.

Ross Taylor join the crease with Henry Nicholls and try to build the partnership with him. Ross Taylor is the most senior player in the playing 11 of the New Zealand Cricket Team along with Kane Williamson. This is a  big disaster for New Zealand Cricket team when they lost H. Nicholls at a total of 118 runs after 26.5 overs.

Liam Plunkit who bowled a very good in swing bowl with his full pace to H. Nicholls and off stump was out of the ground of Mr. H. Nicholls. Team England was back into the game as they had double breakthrough against New Zealand because Ross Taylor and Tom Latham being the fresh batsmen at the crease try to score the runs and build the partnership.

Performance of Last overs

Ross Taylor who lost his wicket to Mark Wood for just 15 runs. From New Zealand was four wicket down at a total of 141 runs. After 33.1 overs but it was another set back for New Zealand to lose their most senior batsman. At the most important moment. James Neesham along with assistance of Mr. Tom Latham build a well crafted and responsible 32 runs partnership. which help New Zealand to take the score to 173 runs after 38.6 overs.

 James Neesham who fall for Liam Plunkit in the hands of Joe Root after scoring 19 runs. Overall scoring rate of New Zealand was not upto the mark and they were looking to score between 220 to 250 runs. They were not even trying to stretch their innings to score big. Now, the New Zealand was 5 wicket down at a total of 173 runs on the board.

So, A solid 46 runs partnership between Grandhomme and Tom Latham took the New Zealand score to 219 runs. 7the wicket of Grandhomme was fall at a total of 219 runs. When he was fall to Mr. Chris Woakes. Batsmans managed to score 241 runs after facing 50 overs of England cricket team.

Acutually New Zealand had lost 8 of their wickets to get this total. At this point, everyone was of the opinion. It is a low score and England will manage to chase this meager total very conveniently but the stage was set for the opposition to chase this tricky total.
